Guide "hanging pictures correctly"

The perfect hanging - 3 important comments

1. Choosing a great picture as wall decoration depends on personal preference and the space on the wall that is available to you. If there was no picture at the desired location so far, then measuring is the first thing to do. Armed with a folding rule or electronic measuring device, the first step is to determine the maximum available space.

As a rule, however, you should not fill this out completely, otherwise the picture will appear squashed. Only the so-called white space around the wall decoration creates a stage and lets a shot appear. The space around the photo may well take up the overall size of the picture. If you plan the wall decoration e.g. in a width of 80 centimeters, then a margin of 40 centimeters per side usually still looks good.

2. There is a simple rule of thumb for image height: Place the center of the image at eye level. If you are unsure or the height does not seem right, an average height of 160 centimeters from the floor to the center of the picture is a good guide. This way, your photographs come into their own from the very first look.

3. The row suspension is a particularly clear and harmonious presentation: this gives the room a modern ambience. The works are based on an imaginary horizontal line, the distances between the pictures are the same. Do your photos have different formats? Then there are two options: You can either bring the upper edges into a line (“edge hanging”) or align the image center points on a common center line.
